was doing some analyzing of structure of undersea palace from Chrono Trigger. It's a really simple melody.
a lot of layering, lot of nice sounds. except I didn't use the sounds cause I haven't prepared a chrono trigger
it file for openmpt yet. Having some trouble juggling the sounds in a way that makes them not sound repetitive
cause theres only three to use. well, three plus combinations of each, and with fake echoes.
I'll have to remember the 50%+low octaves, that makes a relatively lush bass sound for what it is.
I'd like to finish this soon, ideally tomorrow, most importantly pick it apart harmony wise. i didn't really
look at the harmony beyond realizing that it's in like f minor or something.
Well, what I realized so far is that its in F minor, that layering can be really interesting if you're willing
to allow certain melodic structures to exist and be what they are, and then also be able to deconstruct them.
I learned that volume control is really important to make certain chords sound good, at least affirmed that.
I learned that melodic and harmonic structures can be relatively simple and still interesting and unique,
though having a certain amount of "conventional quality" is incredibly beneficial as well.
what else... I dunno! I'll have to look at the harmony more specifically later.
